St Gervais Mt Blanc

Saint-Gervais nestles at the foot of the majestic Mont-Blanc. This spa town & winter sports resort boasts a gentle form of tourism, respectful of the environment. The resort is totally committed in the preservation of an exceptional natural and architectural heritage.

The town is composed of four different villages:

  • Le Fayet: At an altitude of 550m, le Fayet is situated at the entrance to the resort, at the junction to surrounding towns in the Mont-Blanc region. The spa was founded here more than 200 years ago. It is also home to the Mont-Blanc Tramway, one of the last rack & pinion railways in France. During the winter season this famous locomotive carries skiers to Le Prarion and Bellevue. In summer it climbs to the Nid d’Aigle 2372m (eagles nest) at the foot of the Bionnassay glacier. This is the departure point for the ascension of Mont-Blanc by the “Voie Royale” The local railway station and casino are also in Le Fayet.

  • Saint-Gervais: Situated at an altitude of 850m, the village of Saint-Gervais is considered to be the heart of the resort with its numerous shops, pedestrian areas and traditional architecture.

  • Saint-Nicolas-de-Véroce: Situated at an altitude of 1150m, Saint-Nicolas is an authentic alpine village rich in rural and religious architectural heritage. There is a magnificent Baroque style church in the village centre.

  • Le Bettex: At an altitude of 1400m, le Bettex is situated at the foot of the ski slopes opposite the Mont-Blanc. Access by road or by cable-car.

Saint-Gervais is situated close to Chamonix, the worlds mountaineering capital. Take a ride on the Aiguille du Midi cable-car to admire the magnificent surrounding glaciers.
Saint-Gervais is only an hours drive from Annecy, otherwise known as “Venice of the Alps”, candidate for the 2018 Winter Olympic Games. Swim in the clear blue waters of the lake or simply stroll along the lakeside.
Saint-Gervais is also an hour from the cosmopolitan city of Geneva, famous for its harbour and 140 metre high fountain, flowering clock and lakeside gardens.
